Katie Kolodinski is the Founder and Creative Director of Silk Laundry, the Australian-born fashion brand she established in 2015. Born in Canada to a Ukrainian mother and Polish father, and later moving to Australia to study Psychology, Katie's upbringing shaped a lifelong appreciation for resourcefulness, longevity and thoughtful design.

Silk Laundry began with a simple idea: to create the clothing Katie couldn't find herself. Inspired by the slip dresses she wore throughout the 1990s, she designed the now-iconic 90s Slip Dress using 100% silk, laying the foundation for a brand recognised globally for its refined silhouettes, natural fibres and enduring approach to dressing.
Today, Silk Laundry has evolved beyond wardrobe essentials into a storytelling-led brand. Each collection is inspired by Katie's travels, art, history, conservation and the natural world, exploring themes that encourage curiosity while maintaining the brand's commitment to timeless design and considered craftsmanship.

Katie's design philosophy is grounded in creating fewer, better pieces. She believes clothing should be lived in, repaired, treasured and worn for years rather than seasons. This commitment to longevity informs every aspect of the brand, from fabric selection and material innovation to production methods and product development.
Beyond fashion, Katie is a passionate environmental advocate. Through Silk Laundry and her conservation initiative, Project 166, she has championed projects focused on habitat restoration, biodiversity, pollinator protection and environmental education. The brand has partnered with organisations supporting bee conservation, coral restoration, wildlife protection and land regeneration, using fashion as a platform to inspire meaningful conversations and tangible environmental action. Her work continues to explore how design can contribute to a more thoughtful relationship with both people and the planet.

Today, Katie divides her time between design, travel and conservation, drawing inspiration from the landscapes, cultures and craftsmanship she encounters around the world. Under her creative direction, Silk Laundry has grown into an internationally recognised brand with a global community and retail presence spanning Australia, North America and Europe.
